Last summer I asked my grandfather for his famous spicy-garlic pickles recipe. The list of ingredients was short and the instructions even shorter. It seemed like an easy feat for a proficient cook. Although the pickles turned out to be delicious, I realized that I knew very little about how food was pickled, preserved or canned let alone the origins of the food. That’s when I joined a Community Sponspored Association (CSA) where an individual purchases a share or membership of a local farm and in return receives a box of seasonal produce each week throughout the farming season. This blog includes recipes for preparing familiar and unfamiliar vegetables. You'll also find interesting articles, videos, events and podcasts all about local food.
